About us
Born under the glacier
A small, family-run crew who grew up riding these black-sand plains. We started Skaftafell Mountain Biking to share the wild we call home — on two fat tyres, the way it's meant to be seen.
Our story
We were the kids who rode bikes across the outwash plains until dark, who knew which moraine tracks held up after the thaw and which melted away. Skaftafell isn't a destination for us — it's the backyard.
When electric fat-bikes arrived, everything changed. Suddenly the glacier edge, the hidden lagoons, the snowfields few people ever reach — all of it opened up to anyone willing to pedal. So we built the tours we'd always wanted: small groups, real terrain, and guides who actually love the place.
Today we're still small, still family-run, and still riding out every chance we get. That's the whole point.
What we stand for
Small by design
Groups of eight or fewer, always. More space, more attention, more of the trail to yourselves.
Light on the land
Electric assist, marked routes and tiny groups keep our footprint gentle on a fragile place.
Safety, quietly
Certified guides, maintained bikes and a real briefing. We read the weather so you don't have to.
Genuinely local
Every guide grew up here. The stories you hear on the trail are the real ones.
Meet the crew
The people you'll actually ride with — a small team who'd rather be on the trail than anywhere else.

Grew up on these plains. Knows every ridge, every shortcut, every place the light goes gold.

Keeps the fleet running and the pace honest. Will out-climb you on any moraine.

Quiet until he spots a fox or a clean line — then you won't hear the end of it.
